Overview:
Some Characters in PDF Viewable Renditions do not display correctly. Characters in the source PDF files display correctly.
Example:
In the following screenshot, three characters are displayed incorrectly as blocks.
Root Cause:
This issue is caused by fonts that are not embedded or subset-embedded in the PDF files.
Solution:
A Best Practice for a PDF rendition is to embed or subset-embed a font in PDFs. This accounts for discrepancies in font versions and variations in font encoding within the PDF by various PDF producers. The font helps to ensure that the PDF contents display consistently in any environment.
Do the following:
- Refer to the following document to find embedded fonts and embed the font within a document: Font embedding and substitution
- Upload the corrected file to Vault again.
