An admin enables the feature: Check out to Word Online in Vault. Edit document permission is assigned to users. From the Word documents Action list, there is no available action.
This issue can be caused by the Word document format. It is not using the Microsoft Word document format. Users may save the word file as format Microsoft Word 97-2004 Document or something similar.
- In Vault, open the Word document in question.
- Check the File Info area of the INFORMATION section:
- Check the Format field.
- If the Document format is not saved as a Microsoft Word document, save the source file as Microsoft Word Document format.
- Upload the newly-saved document to Vault again.
Please note: Vault currently supports the following file formats for Checkout to Office Online:
- .docx (Word)
- .xlsx (Excel)
- .pptx (PowerPoint)
If the Word document format is Microsoft Word 97-2004 document, it is not saved as .docx. Rather, it is saved as .doc
