Question:
Does the Comparison tool in Vault detect changes in annotations in a document?
Answer:
The comparison tool is limited to text changes between versions of a document. It does not detect changes in annotations, images, formatting, or any other structural changes within a document.
If text is not searchable in a document, the comparison tool does not detect it. Example: text that is within an image in the document.
If Vault detects that there are more than 5000 changes in a document, it does not display any of the changes.
There is an option within Microsoft Word that provides a more in-depth comparison between documents. To use this, use the following article: Compare and merge two versions of a document.
