Reps can view historical account open or click email activities in a Timeline view by clicking the View Overview button on the Account detail page when the user has Read access to the Account_Overview_Layout_vod object.
In this case, the opened email activity cannot be shown in the Account's timeline view.

The zvod_Timeline_Email_vod marker field is not added to the appropriate Page Layout of the Account Overview Layout object.
An Admin adds the zvod_Timeline_Email_vod marker field to the appropriate Page Layout of the Account_Overview_Layout_vod object.
Check the opened activity is shown in the Account Timeline view.
