Question:
When creating custom fields, Admin users are able to specify the length of a field. However, users are able to provide values that exceed this length. For example, entering ten characters to a field which has a length of five. Is there any further configuration needed to enforce field lengths in Veeva Network?
Answer:
This is working as designed. Even though Admins can specify the length of a field, this is only a recommended number and is not enforced by Veeva Network. If the length of a field needs to be enforced, an Admin or a Data Manager needs to create a Validation Rule to monitor field value lengths. For example, a Name field can be limited to 100 characters as shown below:
