Overview:
The font size for annotations appears very small when a document is opened in Adobe Reader.
Root Cause:
Adobe Reader (and other reader programs) generally open documents at a size that fits on the screen.
Solution:
When using the download with annotations feature in Vault, Adobe opens the document at a fit-to-page scale. If the image or document is being opened, it makes the annotations on the side of the screen very small.
Vault sets the size for annotations in the export to 7 point. On an average size document (8 1/2 x 11), this is easily readable. But the font size does not scale if the image is larger. When Adobe zooms out so a poster size image fits on the page, it makes the font look smaller.
To more easily read the annotations on the document, use Adobe Acrobat to edit PDF files to increase the font size on the annotations.
For versions that do not allow editing of the PDF file, use the zoom tool. Zoom into a level that is more readable.
