Error: Can not Change Site State to Archived when the Study still has an Active Status. [SDK_ERROR: INVALID_DATA] - When Moving Study to Archived State in Vault

Question:

Why does an error message, occur in Vault when the user attempts to move the Study to the Archived state?   The message appears as: Can not Change Site State to Archived when the Study still has an Active Status. [SDK_ERROR: INVALID_DATA].

Answer:

This error message occurs because of a standard JAVA SDK record action that cannot be removed:

To avoid the error that occurs at the end of the Study, archive the Study record first. Then archive the Study Countries followed by the Study Sites. Users can only change a Study Country or Study Site to the Archived state after archiving the Study.
