Question:
Is it possible to add a new Submission Type and Submission Subtype for Vault Submission?
Answer:
All RIM applications use Submission Types and Submission Subtypes. Submission is a core RIM object.
The Submission Type and Subtype are regulated by health authorities, especially for eCTD submissions. Health Authorities (HAs) only accept specific types and subtypes in a submission. For FDA, as an example, this is clearly defined in the DTD schema. For other HAs, it is outlined in other documents.
For RIM, both Submission Type and Subtype are in a Controlled Vocabulary and we advise not to relabel or delete. Depending on the purpose of the Type or Subtype (Example, if adding a Planned Submission Type) it might be possible to add as long as that value never is submitted to the HA. In addition, it is only an indicator to the user or sponsor that a submission is currently planned, but not yet fully defined.
