Overview:
Merge Fields are set up on a document in Microsoft Word, but when the document is uploaded to Vault, the fields are blank.
Root Cause:
When a field has no value or if an invalid token is entered, Vault displays the Merge Field as blank.
Solution:
Double-check to be sure that the tokens used in the Merge Fields are valid tokens and that there is a value in the field being referenced.
A common error with Merge Fields is that Formula type fields cannot be used in a merge field. One example, the token, ${vault:steady_state_begin_date__v}
While the token displays as a Date field, the date is calculated with a formula making the token invalid.
To see if a field is a Formula Field:
- Navigate to Admin --> Configuration --> Document Fields.
- Go to the desired field and double-click on it.
- It appears in Field Type.
