How to Configure a Product (Call) Discussion required before submitting a CRM Call?
To prevent users from saving Calls without Product Discussions, those details can now be required for Calls.
Example: Sarah Jones creates a Call and details a Product requiring discussion. When she selects the Product, a discussion record is automatically created and cannot be deleted unless the Product Detail is deselected. All required discussion fields must be populated before she can save the Call.
To enable this feature:
- Ensure Product Discussions are configured.
- Grant the user Field Level Security (FLS) permission to the Require_Discussion_vod field on the Product_vod object.
- Select the Yes_vod option from the Require_Discussion_vod drop-down list on the Product_vod object.
Selecting Yes_vod from the Require_Discussion_vod field on the Product_vod object records of the Product Type Detail indicates users must provide discussion details before saving a Call.
A value of No_vod does not require details.
Because required discussion fields must be populated when a Call is saved, users should not select details for planned Calls until all required discussion fields associated to that detail can be populated. This feature is available on the Online, iPad, and Windows 8 and 10 platforms.
