Does updating an Autonumber for a pattern in Vault create duplicate documents?

Answer:

If Support updates the Autonumber of a Document Type pattern, the Document Number of the next document created of that Document Type is numbered as if it was the first document to use the pattern. This is true even if there are currently other documents using this pattern. It can result in the creation of documents with duplicate Document Numbers.

Be sure that no other documents, using the same pattern, exist in Vault. This should be done prior to updating the Autonumber of any DocType pattern and to avoid duplicate Document numbers.
