Overview:
Microsoft PowerPoint files (.pptx) do not render in Vault.
Root Cause:
A font cannot be embedded in a PowerPoint presentation.
There are two main reasons why this occurs:
-
It is an unsupported type of font, such as Adobe PostScript Type 1 or Apple Advanced Typography (AAT). It is recommended to try a different font instead.
-
Permission to embed the font is not granted by the creator. Even though the font is a supported TrueType or OpenType font, the font’s creator does not allow it to be embedded. This situation cannot be changed for that font.
Confirmation of this issue can be seen by observing the following errors when opening the affected .pptx file in Microsoft PowerPoint.
Windows
Apple
Solution:
-
Open the presentation file.
-
On the PowerPoint menu, select Preferences.
-
In the dialog box, under Output and Sharing, select Save.
-
Under Font Embedding, clear the Embed fonts in the file option.
The next time the presentation file is saved, any embedded fonts are removed from the file.
