Why a CrossLinked Document Cannot Change State due to Lack of Uploaded Content in Vault?

Question:

A user receives the error message while trying to move a document to a different state:  [state] could not be completed for document [document name]. The document must meet the following criteria for workflow to continue: Content has been uploaded.  Why does this message occur?

Answer:

The error message appears due to an Entry Criteria configured on the state that validates that content needs to be uploaded before the document moves to that state.

This means there is no viewable rendition of the linked document in the other Vault for the Crosslinked document to pull as its source document.

To prevent the error message, either remove the Entry Criteria. Or, be sure there is a viewable rendition appearing on the other document in the other Vault.  This way the Crosslinked document pulls source content to validate the Entry Criteria that content is uploaded.
