Overview:

In the Viewable Rendition of a Vault document, the Microsoft Office mark-up revisions' color settings aren't respected - all of the revisions appear with the same color.

Or mark-up that's been hidden - by type - in the source also appears on the documents Viewable Rendition.

Root Cause:

Microsoft mark-up settings are specific to the viewer of the source document. The Word mark-up settings are local to the Word application and not stored at the document level.

This means how the source document looks will vary from PC to PC and is not a consistent experience.

The rendition is a PDF representation of the source document and since the appearance of the mark-up is variable depending on the PC being used to view the source, Veeva Product Management chose to use the default Word settings on our Rendition server creating the rendition.

Solution:
