Overview:
The date format in a MS Excel .xlsx file is not displayed the same way in the source and the viewable rendition in Vault.
Root Cause:
The date format behaviour for the source and rendition of excel files in Vault works as follows:
Whenever a user downloads a source file and opens it in MS Office, the date is displayed as per the user's locale. This occurs unless the Date Cell is formatted in a specific way.
If custom date format without region code is selected on document creation in the Excel file, then Vault generates the rendition using the US locale as the default. This is because Veeva’s all rendition servers are using the US format by default.
Solution:
- If using a built-in date format and locale (location) is selected in an Excel file, then Vault generates a rendition with the same date format as in the source file.
- If using a custom date format with region code ( such as ”[$-en-US]dd/mmm/yyyy” ) in the Excel file, then Vault generates a rendition with the same date format as mentioned in the source file.
