When we have documents that are nearing expiration, oftentimes someone will bring the document into draft, modify the document and metadata (including the expiration date) and send for re-review. The issue occurs when the review and approval processes for this updated document extend beyond the expiration date of the steady state document. Ideally, since the expiration date of the steady state has passed, the document should move into an expired state; instead, because the expiration date of the draft document was modified to be well into the future (typically one year out), the document remains in an approved/active state, thus raising compliance issues.
The ask is to have the option of having the expiration job look at the expiration date of the steady state version of the document and not the current version.
