Decoupled DCRs

the decoupled DCR process is great to capture the changes from a user when you are not using Veeva Network.  In an account based selling model, especially without samples, it creates confusion on the part of the rep that the new account is not immediately available to use.  We would like to be able to have the option of creating the new account using the account wizard (specifying the parent account) and the system would by-pass generating the DCR allowing the user access to the account immediately.

    Hi Guy,

Can you please share some more information about your use case? How would you manage these Accounts afterwards, would they be merged in case of duplicates for example, or would there be any kind of validation performed on top like creating them initially with an 'unverified' Record Type that a data admin would switch afterwards?

The option to enable Account creation by the way is available by granting end users with create permissions on Account, however in that case no DCR will be created.

Please see here for further information - https://crmhelp.veeva.com/doc/Content/CRM_topics/Accounts/Components/Decoupled_Data_Change_Requests.htm

    thanks,

    Arpad,

There is a cost associated with connecting to a provider where an automated lookup can be performed.  A lot of the people we have being added into the system do not have a national license to easily confirm.  However, we still want the rep to enter the person information.

We have a review process for master data management as a team.  We need both the ability for the rep to create accounts and DCRs.  After the account is created and only for the fields that we have listed as DCR fields, those will be the ones to capture as a DCR.  For example, a rep wants to request a person to be a Target I can create a DCR field that captures this, allows the manager to be notified/prompted for approval or rejection, and this is handled on a quarterly basis.

    Hope this helps

    Arpad,

The new account creation should be allowed to proceed which will create an "unverified" record type.  We do have data stewardship processes in place for us.  It would be a good idea to make these changes visible to the admins as an out of the box feature - possibly a My Account view.

The ability to flag a column on the account/address for DCRs is extremely helpful to the field person.  The customer experience is very good in this way.  They simply make their own edits to the fields needed, add a comment, and submit the changes.  No extra training is needed for the rep on how to fill out a separate DCR for each field/change.

One way that we use the DCR functionality, outside of adding a new account, is to allow a rep to make targeting requests throughout the quarter.  The requests are included in an approval process with their manager for the DCR.  Manager approved target changes within the specified time period to into the next quarter.  Anything after the targeting request end date will go to the next quarter.  This process eliminated the manual entries in spreadsheets that were extremely time consuming and riddled with data errors.

I realize the Align product may be better for a targeting scenario, but this did not cost any extra to put in place.  The reps are happy with it and it literally takes them 2 seconds to request a change on an account.

    thank you

Thanks for the detailed examples, we'll definitely take these into account when designing for this feature. Please keep following this post for future updates.
