Hide Media Button on homepage

Can we hide the media tab to force users to launch media through a call? If not can we somehow track who and how often media is launched without a call so we can direct our users to use the call page?

I think this idea has merit. I'll add another request onto this that it should be configurable by Customer which users have the media button hidden. For example, being able to expose the media button on the home page for our Trainers.

Drew/Guy, I believe that the new V16 feature which allows users to select an account (and create a call in the background) from the Media Previewer alleviates some of the concerns you brought up. Once trained about this feature, the amount of presentations delivered without a call should be reduced. We don't currently have plans to track how often media is launched from the media tab on the homepage, but we can consider this as part of several logging enhancements we have planned. Thanks, Uri

Uri, I agree the new feature in V16 will help some but we have many reps who use media to show the detail and then record the call later. I think we need to force the issue, so would still like this to be considered in a future release. Thnaks

Would like to see the ability to hide the media button from the home page, configured as a veeva setting so it could be targeted to specific profiles, included in the next major Veeva release (V20).

Drew, The idea to hide the media button based on configuration is still under consideration for a future release. Thanks, Uri

Hi All, As an alternative to outright removing the Media button from the homepage, what if we included a warning message when you exit Preview Mode that reminds you to select an account if you haven't selected one? ~Cindy

Cindy, this has been in the queue for over a year, we need the option to hide it from the home page, ideally by profile. Warning message doesn't solve our issue. Thanks -D

Hi Drew, Thanks for the reply. Can you please explain more about this issue you are trying to solve? I was originally under the impression that the reason why you wanted to remove the Media button was to ensure that reps selected an account so that the views are tracked. Would the warning in combination with training not solve this? The reason I am suggesting the warning is because if we remove the Media button completely, there is no way to access the Training and the Manage My Presentation sections of CLM. Regards, Cindy

Hey Cindy, The issue is we have not been successful in training to launch from calls or select an account. I understand the concern around training content and "manage my presentations". Perhaps, this could be controlled by profile or by presentation. A flag to show the presentation in the Media tab, or on calls only. Or ability to show the media tab by profile. The main reason we push for calls is so we can track the content. Reps are more likely to just ignore the message than go through the trouble of selecting an account. Another idea might be to allow certain presentations to require a call, in order to be viewed. Or just track all media views weather on the call or not. That would let us see who is showing the presentations without calls and then enforce some more training on them and monitor the behaviour. Lots of ideas, and still won of our top Veeva issues, so happy to discuss this further if you like.
