Question:

Can the Status property of a Vault document be set using the Vault API or Loader?

Answer:

The status__v property of a document cannot be changed by performing a field update. To change the state of a document to another the user must perform a Change State Lifecycle Action.

Before the Change State Lifecycle Action can be executed, the proper User Action must be configured in the Vault.
