Overview:
When uploading an Adobe® InDesign® package document to Vault, it may be necessary to upload package components as associated documents and link them to the InDesign® package source file.
Vault automatically creates documents for each component in your InDesign® package Links directory and links them to the InDesign® package source document under the Auto-Linked section.
Sometimes, the auto-linked components fail to generate and get linked to the source document. What are the possible reasons?
Root Cause:
There are five possible reasons that cause the failure of generating the auto-linked components.
- Reason 1: The name of the links folder in the InDesign® Package is not correct.
- Reason 2: The user who uploaded the InDesign® Package does not have the Create Document permission for the InDesign Component document type.
- Reason 3: The viewable rendition of the InDesign® package source PDF file fails to generate.
- Reason 4: The Auto-Linked relationship type is not added to the document type of the InDesign® package source file.
- Reason 5: The Enable InDesign Auto Linking feature is not enabled.
Solution:
-
Reason 1: The name of the links folder and fonts folder in the InDesign® Package is not correct.
Solution 1: Change the name of the links folder to Links and the fonts folder to Document fonts.
-
Reason 2: The viewable rendition of the InDesign® Package source PDF file fails to generate.
Solution 2: Check the PDF file and be sure there is no problem with it. Then, re-create the InDesign® Package by following the steps listed in the Vault Help Adobe® InDesign® Package Method.
-
Reason 3: The user who uploaded the InDesign® Package does not have the Create Document permission for the InDesign Component document type.
Solution 3: An Admin needs to add the user in the Create Document permission on the InDesign Component document type by navigating to Admin --> Configuration --> Document Types --> InDesign Component.
- Reason 4: The Auto-Linked relationship type is not added to the document type of the InDesign® package source file.
Solution 4: An Admin needs to add the Auto-Linked relationship type to the document type of the InDesign® package source file by navigating to Admin --> Configuration --> Document Types --> the document type of the InDesign® package source file. - Reason 5: The Enable InDesign Auto Linking feature is not enabled.
Solution 5: An Admin needs to enable the option Enable InDesign Auto Linking by navigating to Admin --> Settings --> Application Settings.
