Why Update Sharing Settings does not work in a multi-document workflow in Vault? 

Answer:

The system updates the Sharing Setting roles according to the setting in the Update Sharing Settings step in the workflow.

However, if the workflow is started on multiple documents and the role configured in the workflow participant is not applied to all documents in the workflow, then this action cannot be run.
