Question:
Why the downloaded Source File name is different from the original File name?
Answer:
When a document's Source File is downloaded from Vault, the exported file name is not named after the original file uploaded to Vault, but it is renamed to the document Name, for example, Wonderdrug Material 2025.docx
If the document's Source File is downloaded from the Cart, the exported file name is renamed to the document number, for example, REF-0023.docx
Vault renames the Source File for export to help users know which file is connected to what document within Vault.
If the Vault has the option Apply user-defined values as folder and file names in export enabled and the field Export File Name active, users can choose what the exported Source File is named:
- Edit fields and populate 'Export File Name' with the desired name for the exported Source File
- Add to Cart
- Go to Cart and Download: Source File from the Cart menu
