Question:

Why does a user receive an Email Notification User does not have sufficient privileges to perform the action when running User Action Generate Samples in Vault?

Answer:

Scenario:

  • The object type of the Inspection record is inprocess_inspection__v.
  • The user has the necessary object and object action permissions to create an Inspection Sample record manually.
  • An Inspection record has an existing related Inspection Sample record. 
  • Analyze Inspection Sample action was run on the related Inspection Sample record. 
  • When the Generate Samples User Action is run, the user receives a notification advising that there are insufficient privileges to run the action and new Inspection Samples are not generated.
    • Note: The Generate Samples User Action will show as completed in the Audit Trail in this instance. 

Resolution:

  • Grant the user Edit permissions for the exclude_from_analysis__v field on the Inspection Sample object. This field may be edited on the existing Inspection Sample record dependent on the outcome of Analyze Inspection Sample action. 
    • Ensure the user has Edit permission for the existing Inspection Sample state.
