Question:
Is It Possible to Create and Maintain Salesforce Assignment Rules Beginning with the Name of VT in Veeva CRM Manually?
Answer:
In this context, VT (Veeva Territory) refers to Salesforce Assignment Rules automatically created by the Rebuild Veeva Territory Rules process. They are also called Veeva Territory Rules. Their names begin with VT_Rule*. Their purpose is explained in Explanation of the Territory Utilities and Salesforce Assignment Rule Processes in Veeva CRM.
The actions in the unordered list below are considered prohibited, as they will result in removing the out-of-the-box (OOTB) VT Rules when the Rebuild Veeva Territory Rules is run. After the deletion, an entirely new, but appropriate Rule, Criterion records are created. For this reason, potentially mixing the OOTB VT Rules with Customer defined criteria may result in losing the rule and criteria, in turn causing unexpected Account Territory alignment data changes, when the SFDC Assignment Process is run.
- Do not modify (Delete/Add) the criteria of the OOTB VT rules
- Do not modify the name and developername of the OOTB VT rules
- Do not check the Apply to Child Territories option of OOTB VT rules
- Do not inactivate OOTB VT rules
- Do not create new Assignment Rules beginning with the name of VT*
Instead, create new local customer-defined rules - with their names not beginning with VT* - on the territories. The Apply to Child Territories option can be selected in order for the child territories to inherit them.
However, do not add the following criterion into the local customer-defined rules, as they are already included in the VT Rules out-of-the-box.
Account: Territory VoD Equals "territoryname1" - Where territoryname1 is the respective Territory Name of the Territory record.
In the event, the name of the Territory is updated - the Veeva Cache is cleared - the Rebuild Veeva Territory Rules process deletes the previous SFDC Assignment Rule, criterion, in turn creates new updated Rule, criterion with the new Territory Name.
