How to Manage Buffers & Offsets in RTSM?

Note: Permissions to edit the Buffer & Offsets in RTSM are study specific. The below permissions are based on the IU role. Tabs displayed may differ from your study.
1. Glossary
| Term | Definition |
| Do Not Include Buffer | The number of days prior to expiration at which the system excludes kits from the virtual inventory count during static/predictive resupply calculations |
| Do Not Ship Buffer | The number of days prior to a kit’s expiration date at which the system ceases shipping for static resupply |
| Do Not Ship Offset |
The offset used in predictive resupply when predicting future subject visits to determine whether kits at the depot can be included in the shipment. Kits at the depot must expire after the anticipated date of last usage of drug plus the Do Not Ship Offset. Can be set at Event level and be a smaller number of days compared to the overall Do Not Ship Buffer. |

The number of days prior to a kit’s expiration date at which the system ceases assigning kits to subjects to ensure kits remain viable for duration of subject’s use Note: When the Duration in Days setting is used, it is added together with the Do No Dispense Offset for the total number of days |
2. Editing a Buffer or Offset
- Navigate to the IPM | Buffers page
- Click on task menu (3 dots)
- Click View Information
- Update the value
- Click Save
Note: Buffers can be set based on Site, Country, or CTM Type
Offsets can be set based on Site, Country, CTM Type, Event, or Event Type.
3. Adding a New Buffer or Offset
- Navigate to the IPM | Buffers page
- Click on Add New button
- Add new values
- Click Save
