Why are the Document Lifecycle Stages Not Displaying the Highlighted Stage Properly In Vault?

Question:

Why are the document lifecycle stages not displaying the highlighted stage as expected in Vault when all the users have the correct permissions and the lifecycle stage groups and lifecycle stages are configured properly?

Answer:

If users have the correct permissions and the lifecycle stages and stage groups are configured properly, but users see the following when trying to view lifecycle stages on documents:

Verify that the Default Security under Security Overrides for the following two fields is not set to Hidden. If the Default Security is Hidden and there are no overrides to make these fields at least Read Only to users, the lifecycle stages will not appear as expected.

  • Lifecycle Stage (stage__sys)
  • Lifecycle State Stage ID (state_stage_id__sys)
