Question:
Why is an HTML Report staying in In Progress status for a long time when being Published?
Answer:
When publishing an HTML Report, users will see a message that states:
Publishing started. Depending on the file contents, this may take a few minutes. |
The exact time it takes for an HTML Report to go from In Progress status to Published status depends on the number of files compressed in the .zip file attached to the HTML Report record.
The HTML Report publishing process does not simply save the .zip file to the content delivery network (CDN). Instead, each file from within the .zip must be separately processed and saved to the CDN. The import job that connects to the CDN and publishes an individual file from within a .zip can take several seconds, so the higher the total file count in the .zip, the longer the publishing process takes.
In extreme cases, a highly complex .zip file with a few hundred separate files could take 10 minutes or more to process and move to Published status.
