Question:
Rendition is generated successfully as PDF/A in Vault but it can't be downloaded due to error: Rendition failed to download. Could not convert to PDF/A format. Why does this error occur?
Answer:
One possible reason is that there are unsupported fonts like MyriadProRegular in the advanced signature and overlay template. During rendition downloading, the signature and overlay template are added to the rendition and the unsupported font causes the error.
The rendition log may expose more information about what the font is.
Resolution:
- If PDF-A format rendition is not expected, admins can re-render the document into PDF format and then download the rendition again
- If PDF/A is intended, admins need to figure out where the unsupported font is and replace it.
This error is not limited to rendition download, any behavior related to rendition download could experience the same issue, like Controlled Copy.
